Choosing a publishing service

How to spot a publishing scam — and how we measure up

Fake 'Amazon publishers' have cost authors millions; Amazon has won court judgments against some of them. Before you hire anyone — including us — check these.

How we work

  • Clearly independent — never claims to be a retailer
  • Honest forecasts, no guarantees
  • Milestone payments against approved work
  • Accounts in your name, 100% of royalties to you
  • Fixed written quotes, no countdown timers
  • Verifiable reviews and real, named people

Your accounts stay in your name

Your KDP, IngramSpark and ACX accounts are created in your name, so royalties are paid straight to you.

Milestone payments

You pay in stages tied to work you have seen and approved, never the whole fee up front for large projects.

You own everything

Copyright, files and ISBNs (when you buy your own) belong to you. You receive editable source files.

No sales guarantees

Anyone who guarantees bestseller status or sales is guessing. We give you honest forecasts and the reasoning behind them.

Written scope before you pay

A plain-English agreement lists deliverables, revision rounds and dates, so nothing is left to memory.

Independent, not "Amazon"

We are an independent author-services team. We never claim to be Amazon, KDP or any retailer.

Author stories

What authors say after publishing with us

“I had no idea where to start. They explained every step, never rushed me, and my accounts were set up in my own name from day one. My book is now in bookstores and on Amazon.”
Jennifer M.Memoir · Full publishing
“The cover designer understood my genre instantly. Readers now mention the cover in their reviews — that never happened with my first book.”
James R.Thriller · Cover + formatting
“Honest from the first call. They told me my manuscript needed a developmental edit before anything else, instead of selling me a package. I trusted them after that.”

FAQ

Questions authors ask before publishing

What does a self-publishing company actually do?

We provide the professional services a traditional publisher would — editing, cover design, formatting, illustration, distribution setup, audiobook production and marketing — while you stay the publisher. You keep your rights, your accounts and your royalties.

Do you take a share of my royalties?

No. Your KDP, IngramSpark and other accounts are in your name, and royalties are paid directly to you. You pay us for the work, not for a cut of your sales.

Are you Amazon or affiliated with Amazon KDP?

No. We are an independent author-services company. Amazon KDP is free for anyone to use; we help you prepare and publish professionally. Be cautious of any company that claims to be Amazon's publishing team.

How much does it cost to self-publish a book?

Most professionally self-published books cost somewhere between about $1,500 and $5,000, with editing and cover design taking the largest share. Ghostwriting, illustration and audiobooks cost more. Our cost guide breaks down typical market prices.

How long does it take?

From an edited manuscript, many books are ready in 6–10 weeks. If the book needs a developmental edit, illustration or ghostwriting, it takes longer. The plan builder on this page gives a realistic estimate.

Do you work with authors outside the US?

Yes. We work with authors across the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, and handle country-specific details like ISBN agencies, legal deposit, spelling conventions and US tax forms for non-US authors.

Still unsure? Ask a real consultant — it's free and there's no obligation.

Yes. KDP, IngramSpark and other platforms are free to use. What you pay for is professional work — editing, design, formatting and marketing expertise. Many authors hire freelancers for some parts and do the rest themselves.
